- "Pigeons here are like Cubans, fighters."
In Cuba, despite the lack of resources, Fancier achievements have been earned by their tenacity, their love and passion for this sport. Fancying pigeons is a very expensive passion, especially in a country like Cuba where the average salary would not allow to reach the achievements and the actual number of pigeons. It moves huge and transverse passions throughout Cuban society. Among the "Colombófilos", Fanciers, there are peasants, doctors, military, bakers, self-employed, taxi drivers, mechanics and so on. All of them claim that their best friends are Fanciers indeed. In many cases, they are a true Brotherhood that helps each other.
Every loft construction is unique in materials and form due to the diverse spacial possibilities and economic resources of each fancier. The heterogeneity of fancying in Cuba is shown trough the diversity of the portrait's background.
